A prayer of gratitude said after recovering from a serious illness or surviving a dangerous journey.
Birkat Hagomel is recited with the minyan on the days when Torah is read and in the following cases:
a) When a person who has been sick in bed for more than 3 days has recovered.
b) When a person has returned from prison.
c) When a person crossed sea (by any means of transport).
d) When a person has been on a long trip/journey for more than 72 minutes.
