Prayer for Guarding the Eyes
Master of the world, may it be acceptable before You, O Almighty, Compassionate, and Gracious God, to make me worthy today and every day to guard my eyes. May I not fall into the trap of seeing forbidden things. Help me to be careful never to stare at forbidden things, the gravity of such a sin being very very serious.
Master of the world. You created my eyes so that I could perceive holiness and contemplate words of Torah. Woe to me that I have blemished them by looking at unclean and unfit things; by seeing all manner of forbidden things; things which have absolutely no value. Woe to eyes that have seen such things! I therefore want to express my deepest regrets to You, and I beseech You to help me to guard myself, to refrain from looking at anything that is not proper and good, and all the more so to stay away from places where improper things are shown. And as for every single things that my eyes have seen that is an affront to Your will—please help me forget every single one of them completely. Make me worthy so that my eyes will never again come to see such things, even unintentionally, even under duress. May my eyes never see anything improper, but rather be sanctified to see and contemplate Your command alone.
